Most peoples in the world think their lives will always stay the same. Nothing will ever impact their lives or peoples leave them, without real connects to basic needs, wants, loves, life, peace. Yes, everything will stay the same, and our peace of mind will always stay secure....or so we think.
Yet, we are for the most part vulnerable. Nobody is immune to becoming disabled by one or more catastrophic issue, in his or her lifetime. From infancy to elderly, it is a truth yet to be. Of course, it is entirely up to you and yours of how you will take the impact of such an intrusion into your life. You can get ready for it, or you can continue to blithely continue in and through life, distance yourself, and insulate your mind that this will never happen. Many of our lives around the globe have had such thoughts as well. But the simple fact is, life happens.
Even after we are disabled, and profoundly, people tell us, patronizingly, 'don't worry' you will get through this or that, we are here, just call, do not worry. But the simple fact IS that your life does drastically changes, and places you thought were open without issue, becomes a veritable fortress of 'non-access', not just one place, but most all external places. Health care, travel, housing,
'access & inclusion', medical and lab costs, ambulance, paying hospital bills, medical accessories and if you are in need of dialysis, and or other needful life-saving needs, the nightmare is on going. What is even more of issue, the way our lives are addressed, the awful abuses, trauma, emotionally, psychologically, physically, mentally, spiritually, can also add to our overall question as to the quality of life, and of how not only society treats us, but how nations and leaders treat the whole spectrum of children to elderly with disabilities’, profound disabilities, lives on life support. There is for us, no peace, no peace of mind at all
Finally just this last year at the start of the Spring 2008 Universal Human Rights received signature offering lives with disabilities, coverage for our lives. Again, though our lives are covered, supposedly, this does not change the hearts or minds of many peoples who still purposely take their disabled and hide them away, our lives in back rooms, or closets when guests come, are being totally kept from the external world because they are ashamed of us.
The other issue is how we are treated just as human beings by a cross-section of societies, and in many countries purposely disabled by abuses, extremes of violence, torture, sliced alive for our organs and tissues so a special group of peoples and leaderships may enhance their financial portfolios at the expense of killing helpless citizens and children already numbered in a horror of many, many, thousands. This is genocide of the most brutal and savage understanding in the annals of human history. But world events for some, and investment in things, objects, events, investments for sure, are for some more important than the saving of helpless human beings.
The Beijing Olympics are and remain a prime example of public apathy, indifference, and supporting the games, instead of universal human rights, disabled rights. So many took to the streets championing ‘The Games’ to take place, but did not take the same humane conscience of effort to speak up for over 7,000 concentration camp victims being kept under lock and key, many held incommunicado because of their religious affiliations, or having been with a picture of The Dalai Lama, or any religious book(s), etc.: From the most smallest of infraction to outright speaking up for human rights, a life sentence, with added tortures, abuse, starvation, or being sliced alive for ones organs and tissues. A nightmare for any peoples, from any nation, culture or religious orientation, etc.
If that is not upsetting, think of the greed gone after in selling whole factories, manufacturing companies to the Chinese Communists, and that took major jobs away from our own peoples here in the United States. Yes the Chinese Communists started out in 1947 and said it was a crime to be rich, have land holdings, things, and objects of worth. People were summarily killed, disabled. Yet today the sons and daughters of those leaderships are themselves rich beyond measure, and in the United States, we are paying back loans to the Communist Chinese. That alone is worrisome, even more so now with the collapse of banking institutions. What is so endangering is that many families are with peoples, youth to elderly, disabled, and profoundly without jobs, one-step closer to the streets, and homelessness.
It is more than time, we as the most profoundly disabled step forward; state our case to the global peoples of the globe. Please have a conscience, join with us in our first global walk for peace. Stand with us for our rights, to stop the ongoing human rights violations, genocide transpiring in the world today.
Enabling Peace Is:
Making sure ALL lives are brought into the family for peace, means making sure that everyone is willing to bringing in our direct voices; lives that are rarely seen or their voices heard. "Access and Inclusion" is something peoples with profound disabilities, on life support are rarely asked to join in with on most issues to do with life.
Peace for us is everything. For most of our lives have seen or continue going through, the worst issues of abuse(s), violence, torture, being incarcerated; or our family members, murdered out right, or faced genocide. We can no longer stay hidden or have anyone speak for us.
MHONA, is formed since 1962 to address these issues, to remind
Everyone, nobody is exempt from being disabled. Each life is one moment away from being addressed in any of these above issues-situations, any age.
