SICU Synergy Solutions Group (SICU SSG)

Hello dear Members,

Please allow me to share my thoughts with you regarding the subject "Art of communication". In order to have effective communications and successful results, we need to communicate artistically, how! It is the art of using certain words/expressions, at certain times, for certain occasions with certain people.

Through communication we send and receive messages to exchange thoughts, ideas, feelings or information. Communications can be done by different ways such as speech, signals, writing, reading, advertising, listening, broadcasting, telephoning, faxing and networking etc.
There are different types of commutations such as:

1-Verbal communications which include chosen words or expressions, speaking, listening, tone of voices and sounds. These effects take place between the speaker and the listeners.

2- None verbal communications which include body language, postures, gestures and eye contact.

3- Visual communications include images, symbols, writing, reading, seeing, signs, advertising, typography, drawing, graphic design, illustration, colors and face to face confrontation.

According to the research, there are three major parts in human face to face communication which are body language, voice tonality and words. The study reveals the following:

• 55% of impact is determined by body language, postures, gestures, and eye contact.
• 38% by the tone of voice.
• 7% by the content or the words used in the conversation.

Although, the form of visual communications is of a great power, yet people react and respond to various ways of communications differently. Some individuals fell more comfortable in networking communication rather than face to face communications. Others may prefer confrontation and have one on one personal contact. Regardless, we all agree that networking has opened many chances for successful communications and good relationships of all kinds.

In our network, we have the chance to communicate throw this available system for sending and receiving messages, as passage to getting from one place to another while we are still sitting behind those little screens. In our network, we can announce, conversate, discuss, connect, convey, interact, express, exchange, broadcast, rapport, write, make known, relate, spread, present and communicate.

So, why not we all take advantage of the above hints and make this group as useful as possible for us all.

Although, body language has its effect yet, any language can have great effect as well when used thoughtfully. Writing can be very powerful when we apply our hearts into it and give it life. Actually words can carry music and deep meaning when written from the heart. Not only that, when words written with sincerity, one can find his/her imagination very alive and see the words and feel them rather than reading them.

Briefly, when there is art in communication there is power. Although, in network over the internet, Readers can't make use the body language and tone of voices but through writing we communicate. So since my subject was abut communication, I had to mention all kinds of ways we communicate.

your comments are more than welcome and I wish you all happy network and effective communication.

Mona, This was a powerful post. While I can't say that my experience was clinically scientific, I have noticed a dramatic difference in how many people perceive the Internet and the longer running traditional TV format. Traditional TV is highly manipulated and highly controlled. Despite what people may think about it TV broadcasting, as well as video games, is designed to make money. This is how it is in the USA where I live. It may vary some in other countries but even when used for propaganda that just means the government is using it to sell their version of what is going on in order to prop up their corruption or keep the population in fear of something so that they can continue to control them through military force.
What I have observed is that many people 55+ do not fully comprehend the value of the Internet and can not get the feeling through the Internet that I and other creative people can. So I asked what is the difference in the way different minds work. You answered part of the question in this posting. I am quite sure that the statistics you gave about 55% body language came from psychologists and or professional educators because I have had an immense problem convincing many people in those 2 professions in how to utilize the audio/visual impact of Internet communications to reach more people than they could ever come in contact with physically. Tom knows what I am speaking about because his network is likely 3 times the size of mine. You and Tom and SICU are right on the money to offer to assist the less creative or less visual projectioneers on how to adapt to the new Internet reality. I do not think for one minute that You, Tom, myself, etc. are saying to abandon physical meetings. It is hard to get some idea of physical contact through the Internet without using Avatars in Second Life or similar platforms.
What I think is that those people who are pushing the idea that body language is so important are people who already think they know more than the person they are talking to and have a mindset that they should not believe what the person tells them because the person can easily lie. Then they feel that they, with their obvious superior analytical skills, can tell from body language if the inferior person is telling the truth. So here is what I have observed. All con artists and thieves know as much about body language as the "experts". It is why Berney Maddoff (sp) got away with stealing some 50 Billion $ from people who were "smart" enough to earn millions in the first place. He used all the right "body language"
I prefer this format on the Internet because I feel that unless I can make the point logically I am not being fair. If I resort to manipulating the person I am communicating with, then I do not believe what I have written. While I usually do not place footnotes along with my postings I do frequently research a subject before commenting on it. Many times it would take days for me to footnote everything. I am sure there is software someplace that could track my movement on the Internet to discover all that I read in 12 hours a day. Google my name and you can discover many postings on many subjects. Mostly all words. Online education is the only way I could have gotten a degree because of the massive discrimination I have faced my entire life by being larger than other people. When I graduated from High School I only weighed 140 lbs but that wasn't good enough for most of the people in my life. So body language is totally ignored in favor of stereotypes all too often.
