The company, a wholly private enterprise, exists since 10 years and was founded in 1999, by Gene Meyers CEO of the company.
Myself, I am the Executive Vice President International / National Development of the Group.

SIG (Space Island Group uses 40 years of existing proven technology we are just the integrators with the right ideas.

How it works;
In space at high Orbit (+/- 25.000 miles) the sun is always available 24 hours 365 days a year.
Our Space Solar Satellites (SSS) receive the sun rays and will transform them into Microwaves for transmission (low density transmission 2.57 hertz – used also by submarines to communicate with their land based command centers – or lower then your mobile phone emissions).
The ground receiver stations transform the MW back into electricity and send it into the grid.

Our objective;
1 FIRST PHASE
Launch the first demonstrator satellite in Oct / Nov 2010.
The following year 2011 early 2012 we want to launch the first commercial energy generating satellite, which produces 1000 Mw/h.
Until 2016 we will launch in an accelerate pace satellites (up to 4 a month)
Info; 1 nuclear power plant produces +/- 1000 Mw/hr at a cost of $10B
**Launching over the next 6 years 150 satellites for different utility companies (like Edison, PG&E, and more)
These 150 Satellites will produce 150.000 Mw/h.
**Coming to higher independence on OIL
**Bringing clean renewable energy to America
**Bringing work to Americans – the company will need 7000 employees and over a 100.000 employees for suppliers (like ATK-Thiokol -Rockets and Boosters, Boeing Aerospace, ThalesAleniaSpace, Raytheon etc.).
**Saving money on building power plants (nuclear, conventional) with all the waste and CO2 emissions.
**Bringing cheap always available energy ( our sales price per kw/h is app. 0.15 Kw/h and the utility companies will sell it on for a lower price then now to the consumers.

2 SECOND PHASE
ACreate a living and working quarters in LEO using the ET actually used by the Space Shuttle, this has been tsted and realized already in space by NASA early 80'S, but abandoned.
We then will attach 3-4 ET's together and transform them into living abd working quarters for in-space satellite construction enabling to assembly larger satellites then now possible. Currently we have only 200.000 pnds payload capaicity for LEO limiting thus the size of satellite and inter planetary space ships and satellites.

This 4 ET living quarters can and will be extended to 6 as where people can buy a space holiday or stay.
