I searched in SICU SSG members on keyword “peace” and the results I got includes your name, hence this note.
Last 100 years+ seems most enlightened and advanced period of human history yet, at the same time, this period is of unparalleled bloodshed too through wars and other human interventions.
What is the use of knowledge and advancements in science and technology then?
Are we not same, or even worst than, the ‘cavemen’ of stone age whose best option was ‘might is right’?
There is a lot of talk about peace, yet yet whither peace? – the powerful amongst us shun others to acquire WMD or even augmenting their defense capability but the powerful themselves continue stockpiling more WMD and improving their destructive power.
A famous saying goes that “nothing can stop an idea when its time has come”; lately there is a lot of talk about peace though peace remains a dream as ever for majority human population all over the world.
May you share your thoughts on how to achieve peace, or at least restore the situation to as it was before 9/11?
Kindest regards. Sadiq

I am inviting you to be my great friend on this network. Please take a few moments to visit my organisation's website:www.goodwillsocialworkcentre.org.
I am pleased to let you know that our centre has been taking up ‘Children’s Rights Artwork ‘as a rights based programme through its ‘Children’s Rights Centre’ for rural and urban children in and around Madurai, Tamilnadu, South India under the aegis of the Art Venture, Singapore This is an innovative programme for children in the age group 7-17,which aims at providing ways to learn, debate, raise awareness and foster activism about their rights to survival, protection, development, participation as enshrined in the UN Convention on the rights of the child(1989) through artwork.
The children’s Right Artwork not only aims at building a holistic understanding of Child Rights and exploring areas of concern that affect children and their rights but also combining arts with a study of the UN convention on the rights of children as a way to promote children’s understanding of their legal status in society. The artwork includes folk dances, folk music and songs, drawing and painting, cartooning, children’s rights mural, floor arts, needlecrafts, lacework, writing contests and competitions, portrait and figure drawing and cartooning on computers etc, which develop art skills, improve self confidence and enhance creative and enjoyment in the arts and to know of their rights to childhood.
With in a span of three years the project will cover 15000 female and male children in 50 schools which are located in and around Madurai and its neighbouring villages. The project promotes the forming of the citizens with active, positive and vital position; develops creative potential of the children and helps them realise themselves as the part of the global community. The outcomes of the project include 1.Children will be empowered with information on their rights 2.They will acquire skills in arts and learn to combine arts with the study on their rights 3.Children will get inspired to discover their unique talents through a variety of hands-on workshops 3. A virtual gallery of students’ artworks, posters, murals, etc will be posted on our organisation website: www.goodwillsocialworkcentre.org and partnering organisations’ websites: www.artventure.com and www.glinet.org.

Thanks a lot for your update, though I'm both sorry that you lost your job and happy that you have decided to to start as an entrepreneur. It's not easy, but what I use to call traditional organizations is "creativity killers".
I wish the best of luck, and if you ever would like to have some help, don't hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
TOM
Tom for welcoming me and a warm hello from NYC. It is my pleasure to join your group. I wanted to do it before but time was an issue until I recently lost my job from Citigroup with a wave of layoff among thousands. So I am taking a chance to be an entrepreneur. What I learned from Wall Street will help me in my pursuit to focus on what I love. Thanks again. Nadia
