Increasing Diversity In Conversations that Matter

In light of the kind of conversations dominating the media with regard to the economy and emerging business landscape, it is important to remember that there is a place for your voice to be heard. I'd like to hear and help you share your insights.

Recently I changed the format for my radio show. That shift includes panel discussions that call for greater diversity in contributors to these very important conversations. This is the first panel, a new topic will be discussed each time unless otherwise indicated.

Before building a new strategy it is common to start by surveying the context to define needs. In community development this is called a needs assessment This is an important step towards formulating a strategy. However, in the past the contributors to the most important conversations have often been less than culturally diverse.

The web and globalization are redefining community, leading to new innovations in economic models and therefore it will have an increasing impact on regional economic development. Whether we find new ways of doing things or simply find new ways to supplement what is.

It seems important to consider these issues in the context of the individual operating increasingly in open systems facilitated by the internet, as well as the push towards transparency that will shape the success of globalization.

How it will work?
I am sharing this invitation with groups likely to be interested. Anyone wanting to participate should contact me with "discussion panel" as the subject. Selected participants will be notified at least a week in advance with request for confirmation.

Three to Five panelists will call in at the designated time to address five or six questions (may be adjusted for time allowed) to illuminate the needs within their industry and then each will have the chance to express their ideas about the way forward.
